OFFICE and CORPORATE ARCHITECTURE

DANAC-Stiles Phase One
Coakley Williams Construction built DANAC's "World
Class" Corporate Campus at the Stiles Property in Montgomery County
(Phase One of DNC Master plan). This Campus represents the successful blending
of the County's Goals for development and transportation issues with
the needs of the Corporate Community. The site plays a prominent role
in the future of the region as it works to attract the "Technologies
of the Future" to Montgomery County. The buildings are positioned to
maximize their presence on Key West Avenue and minimize their impact
on the residential community along Decoverly Drive. The Campus Plan
has resulted in the creation of an environment that will enhance the
quality of life for the employees and visitors as well as the
neighboring community.

aesthetic. This project won awards from the AIA, N.A.I.O.P., and

12530 Parklawn Drive

Congratulations to James G. Davis Construction on their New Rockville Home! Just recently completed, this project saw the development of a four story 100,000 gross square foot office building with surface parking, adjacent the Twinbrook Metro Station. Gateway 270 Clarksburg, MD
The six buildings that make up the Gateway 270 complex range in size from 26,365 to 60,870 square feet. They are designed to accommodate a variety of uses and consequently incorporate a number of "options" to enhance the flexibility of the space. The arrangement and detailing of the face brick adds interest and relief to the facade of each building complementing the exterior aesthetic. The feature areas of each building, such as storefronts, also work to add a pedestrian scale to the tenant entrance locations.
Calverton Building VI
Carrollton Enterprises is currently developing a 91,000 gross square foot office building as a compliment to their existing 17story flagship building in Calverton, Maryland. The four story speculative office building is designed to present its main entry to the dramatic facade of the flagship building without competing with the prominence of the existing architecture. A simple pre-cast and strip window skin on a long span steel structure provides an efficient, space-plan friendly floor of 22,200 rentable square feet. The building is currently in construction documents and hopes to be under construction in early 2000.

Hechingers Corporate Headquarters
DNC was commissioned to design a facility which would accommodate a rapidly changing environment, while providing an image consistent with the client's corporate culture. The space's flexibility was proved when Hechinger’s subleased a portion of the facility: Hughes EOSDIS moved in with minimal renovation.

Rappahannock Building
This new
office building (still under construction) is a six story, long
span composite
steel structure located in a mature office park in Tyson’s Corner, Virginia.
The building is sheathed in a gray pre-cast skin, with lightly reflective two
story curtain wall window s.
The pre-cast frame stands proud of the glass
skin
giving the building a depth
and added
texture
to the façade.
At the
pedestrian levels granite column bases and granite clad spandrels add to
the illusion that the entire building is built of polished and flamed finish
stone. Granite crenellations also occur at the top of the building and will
distinguish the silhouette from longer views. The large cantilevered corners
provide panoramic views
for the
building occupants.

Oak Plaza
Oak Plaza is a build to suit for Suncontrol, a window shading systems
contractor, located in Rockville, Maryland. The site is a remaining parcel
between access ramps to I-270 from downtown Rockville and the new development on
Tower Oaks Blvd. Variances and creative site planning were required to overcome
the difficult configuration and build-able area of six square feet of the lot.
The limited area and zoning height restraints demand
ed the limited under building parking with two office floors above. The glass
and steel facade curves gracefully along the forested elevation to the dramatic
front entry. A three story glass lobby accentuated the center of the building
framed by silver panels. The entire core was pulled to the lobby edges in order
to emphasize the 7'4" office windows around the perimeter.
