This recently completed project involved converting an existing 40,000 SF office/laboratory space into the new facility for a 75 year old local private school, which spans the spectrum of pre-school to high school education. To create individual identities for each group and provide way-finding, DNC’s design solution used different colors to signify the various schools (yellow for pre-school, red for elementary, green for middle and purple for the high school). Blue, Newport’s school color, was used for the school wide functions. Their distinctive logo “ Newport is #1” was used to provide a graphic for these color transitions along the corridors. DNC’s team led the school through a multitude of often trying challenges (code related, budgetary and schedule) to ultimately achieve a new educational facility which the Newport School is pleased to call their new home.
